Tri-State Learning Center's workshop outreach services are designed to provide intensive training to families and home instructors in an effort to enhance the knowledge and skill level of staff members in various aspects of applied behavior analysis. Modeled after TLC's clinic based services, the workshops are structured sessions specifically designed to assist families and school districts to implement their own ABA intervention program. The workshop training areas include; Systems of Reinforcement, Shaping Behavior, Contingency Management, Naturalistic Teaching, Prompting and Fading Procedures, Behavioral Management, and Discrimination Training. Additional workshop topics include instruction on learning theory, teaching techniques and procedures, how to maintain accurate data on your child's progress, how to identify areas of difficulty in your child's learning. TLC's Workshop program is available to children throughout the United States, Canada, and Europe who are between the ages of 2 and 6 at the time of intake and who have received a diagnosis of pervasive developmental disorder (PDD), autism, or another related disorder.

A Workshop Consultant with at least 2 years of clinical experience and extensive training is assigned to each Workshop client. The Consultant travels to the client's home and/or school to provide the services. During an initial 2-day training, the Workshop Consultant teaches families and staff members the necessary skills to begin a child's ABA treatment program. A large portion of the time is spent working directly with the child to demonstrate the procedures taught and provide constructive feedback on technique implementation.

It is TLC's goal that by the end of the second day, families and staff will have the necessary training and tools to implement the beginning stages of the child's program. Following each consultation, families will be provided with a summary of the Consultant's feedback, program modifications, behavioral management plans, and recommendations regarding the child's program.

Telephone and videotape consultations are provided between these face-to-face consultations. Phone conferences and video reviews are organized on a schedule that is consistent with the child's rate and style of learning. It is recommend that telephone consultations occur at least one time per month for families who receive follow-up consultations at 3-month intervals. This frequency is flexible and is determined by the needs of the learner.
