The application of applied behavioral analytical services in the treatment of autism spectrum disorders (ASD) varies depending on approach, curriculum, staff providing the therapy and many other variables. An ABA program should implement protocols for quality assurances to account for potential confounds in treatment. The protocols used by TLC incorporate many guidelines as established by the Behavior Analysis Certification Board, Inc. as well as other competency based instructional measures.

TLC strives to institute the following assurances for our Clinicians in their application of Applied Behavioral Analytical Principles: These assurances include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Select, develop and use competency-based training for TLC employee who will be responsible for carrying out behavioral assessment and behavior change procedures.
  • Conduct objective assessment of TLC employee's need for training in general and specific applied behavioral content areas
  • Establish methods for measuring results of training on the performance of each employee.
  • Use the most effective and up to date technology available
  • Implement a system for advanced development of skills in behavior analysis.
  • Determine contingencies of reinforcement likely to strengthen and maintain employee performance.
  • Monitor employee performance (i.e. direct and indirect) across all relevant environments in the application of principles.
  • Implement a model system to compare individual staff performance with prior measures of performance (graphs, etc.) that can be altered and re-drafted over-time.

TLC strives to institute the following assurances for our clients during their participation in The TLC program. These assurances include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Employ scientifically established principles of behavior when providing treatment.
  • Conduct frequent and valid skills assessments.
  • Select target areas as based on the social, educational, practical and functional relevance for clients.
  • Provide a peer review module that provides Case Supervisors with an objective analysis of a child's program design.
  • Provide a strong emphasis on program individualization.
  • Insure that targets are defined and are easily measurable for data collection and data analysis.
  • Provide guidelines to assist in the incorporation of targets in the least restrictive environment while using least restrictive behavioral change procedures.
  • Insure that a functional approach to addressing behaviors is employed
  • See TLC's Effective Program Provisions
