Tri-State Learning Center's program methods are based on scientific
principles of behaviors that are designed and implemented to build
socially useful repertoires and reduce problematic behaviors (Cooper,
Heron, & Heward, 1989). These scientific principles are derived
from research-based studies and encompass more than 40 years of
scientific research (Anderson, et al, 1987; Fenske, et al, 1985;
Lovaas, 1987; Lovaas & Smith, 1988; McEachin, Smith, and Lovaas,
1993; Skinner, 1957), clinical experience, applied and experimental
behavioral research of functional assessment, motivational variables,
and the analysis of verbal behavior. TLC's approach involves the
incorporation of verbal behavior (VB) and the behavioral analysis of
language, which focuses on the function of language and not just the
form.
